Placed on the banks of river Yamuna in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Agra is famed as a Mughal City. Emperor Akbar built the Agra fort; Jahangir beautified it with palaces and gardens. Shahjahan marked the zenith of Mughal architecture, when he built the Taj. The post-Mughal era's history of Agra saw the rule of the Jats, Marathas and finally the British taking over the city.

Taj Mahal: The name "Taj Mahal" was derived from the name of Shah Jahan's wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and means "Crown Palace".t is the love behind this outstanding monument that has given a life to this monument. At the brink of dawn when the first rays of the sun hits the dome of this epic monument, it radiates like a heavenly abode, cloaked in bright golden. And then at dusk, basking in the glory of moon, it shines like a perfectly carved diamond; appearing as if straight owwut of some magical tale, leaving the viewer’s awestruck by its sense of grandeur. Taj Mahal, "the epitome of love", is "a monument of immeasurable beauty".Ironically, the very first sight of the Taj Mahal, the epitome of love and romance, also leaves visitors mesmerized and perpetually enthralled.

 

 Agra Fort: An era marked by invasions and fortifications, where power was symbolized by grand palaces and grander forts………during such time was built THE AGRA FORT. Agra Fort built by Akbar in Red Sandstone when he was through with the consolidation of his power after accession to power in 1654, Agra Fort worked both as a military strategic point as well as the royal residence.

The Agra Fort, also known as the “Lal –Qila”, “Fort Rouge” or “Qila-i-Akbari”, is the highlight of the city of Agra, then capital of the Mughal Sultanate . A symbol of power, strength and resilience, as it stands today in full glory.

Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb:- It is a tomb built with white marble in the typical Islamic style architecture. It was built by the Mughal Empress Noor Jahan in the memory of her father Itmad-ud-Daulah. It happens to be one of the must visit monuments of Agra.
Akbar's Tomb: An elaborate Mughal structure, the Tomb of Akbar in Agra is a popular attraction of the city. The tomb houses the mortal remains of Akbar and its history reveals that he himself planned for his tomb and started its construction that was later completed by his son, Jahangir. The Akbar’s Tomb is undoubtedly among the must-see places in Agra.
Fatehpur Sikri:- Famously known as the city of Ghosts. Fatehpur Sikri is considered as one of the architectural legacies of Emperor Akbar. It consists of beautiful palaces, halls, and mosques.
